Centaursite.com - Scary Tales

scarytales. It's too bad that in most human to centaur transformation stories, the people who get new forms are shocked and / orrepulsed at their new appearance. It's a shame to waste such a great experience on those who refuse to see the wonderful power and grace of the centaur form. It's as though they feel that as their bodies are improved with the addition of an equine aspect, their minds are reduced to that of a dumb animal. They have no concept that there is no reason a centaur has to 'smell like a horse' or relieve itself in the street. A centaur is not a horse, it is a wonderful combination of...

Well, that's for another page.

In this story, the bodies of the human are made 'equal' to their minds. Although ignorant and hateful, the humans are put on an equal footing, or 'hooving' with their 'prey', a unicorn. Apparently set in Greece, the hunters are searching to capture a unicorn which their guide has told them exists in these woods. Keeping just ahead of them, the unicorn allows them to go further and further into the forest, until they are far from civilization; or witnesses.

After foolishly trying to bring the unicorn down with traquilizer darts, they chase the unicorn. It stands before them, seeming to dare them to follow. They do and find an urn, with a strange message upon it in ancient Greek. The husband, drinks as the wife protests but, being a 1960's era 'good wife' drinks of the urn too, saying that when married she vowed to share her husband's fate. They lay down to rest, and when they awake, they are equal to that which they hunt. They are centaurs, powerful equine bodies and the wit and skill of their human minds. Now, at least physically equal to the unicorn.

The question is, who is the hunter now?
