This page concerns the 'new' version of Comet. Origionally, Comet was the pet horse of Supergirl. His origional 'origions' story, told of how he used to be a centaur in (Where else?) ancient Greece, and was in love with (Who else?) the goddess Circe. I guess the centaur females he knew just didn't have what it took. After saving Circe from being poisened by a rival wizard, she offered to grant Biron a wish as a reward. Biron, in a complete reversal of most centaur fans, asked to be changed from centaur to human form. As is usual with magic spells, the potients got mixed up and Biron went from centaur to horse form. More information on the origional Comet's story can be found on the Biron the Centaur / Comet the Superhorse page.
Comet, along with Supergirl, Superman, and the complete history of the Superman universe (or universes) has changed a few times in the past years. Absent for a long time, Comet was brought back in the Supergirl 'Earth Angel' series.
This version of Comet has never been to ancient Greece, and was born human. The story seems to be, Andy Jones was a successful jockey. He did well, but an accident during a horse race left him paralysed. Having no hope of recovery he was offered a chance by the Atlas Corporation to recover by letting their 'mad science team',do an experiment on him. Having little choice, he agreed.
He was then somehow given horse serum, or DNA or something in the Atlas 'experiement'. and ends uplooking somewhat equine with hooves instead of feet, a long equine face and three fingered hands, etc. He finds he has 'superpowers' such as flight etc. Comet, in his new form runs across this human woman who is mountain climbing and is injured. Some how she and Comet die and are combined and can change from her form to his, adding an additional sexual twist to his circumstance.
Later, Comet finds he has additional powers when he finds he can take on centaur form. He is like the original Comet in that he can fly, has superpowers and has the form of a Centaur. Things that the old Comet, Superhorse, and Byron, all could do, but not at the same time. To get the whole story you can go to The Story of the New Comet Page, or better yet, go to your local comic shop and buy the comics.
Anyway, here are images of the new version of Comet in Centaur form.
