Centaurs have appeared either as featured or secondary characters in a number of comic books,or as they're called now 'graphic novels'. Sometimes as the hero, more often as a villian, they have propelled many a story forward for a wide range of themes, genres, and subjects. Not the most popular of characters, they always add a certain 'alien' aspect to the characters they portray.
Although usually only featured for their unusual appearance, and seldom having any 'super powers' or abilities beyond that of being 'strong as a horse' and able to gallop, there have been a few stories where the 'situation' of being a centaur has been illuminated. As villians, they generally adhere to the sterotype of fighters or, as you might imagine, archers. As good guys, they are either one of a hidden race who have made contact with humans, or the more popular, and common circumstance of being humans who have been transformed into centaurs. There is also at least one story of a centaur who wanted to be a human, and was turned into a horse. In any case, it is a pleasure to see fine artists, well, usually fine artists... well, artists who can draw better than I can depict the centaur form.
Below are comics that range from Captain Marvel to Superman, to 'Claw', a Conan wanna be, and Arak, another Conan wanna be (There seems to be a pattern here). Through time, the unique appearance, power or skill of the centaur has found a place in both great stories, and pulp fiction.
